Wassup?
Time has passed and it's my final blog for Google Summer of code 2019. Every day was just amazing, I learned a lot, enjoyed a lot, worked a lot. This was really a life-changing experience, I am starting to feel different, look at this world from a different angle and I am myself a-lot different from the time when I started this.
Now, about the work:
What did you do this week?
Well, I finished with the implementation of the documentation page of EOS-Icons. I just created a PR for that. PR link - https://gitlab.com/SUSE-UIUX/eos-icons-landing/merge_requests/22. This documentation page will be published at - https://eos-icons.eosdesignsystem.com/docs.html.
I also finished my final evaluations and created my final work report.
What's coming next?
I also created a new PR for a few adjustments on the EOS-Icons landing page. I am planning to refactor the code and improve responsiveness. So, I am working on that now. Later I will work on a few other things that are still pending, mainly deploying strapi on Heroku.
Did you stuck anywhere?
Not really, this week was just about documentation and most of which was already on the readme, so it wasn't that of a big deal.
So, ya this was all for my Google Summer of code 2019. Well, I won't be updating this blog for my future work because this was just for GSoC period. Maybe you can check me out on other platforms.
Here is my linked-in - https://www.linkedin.com/in/abhinandan-sharma-672299150/
My twitter - https://twitter.com/abhinandan0659
Peace!
abhinandan0659@gmail.com (abhinandan0659)Mon, 26 Aug 2019 19:30:09 +0000https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/final-weekly-check-in-7/Seventh Blog - GSOC 2019https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/seventh-blog-gsoc-2019/
Hey! welcome back.

As I mentioned in my previous blog, internet services were paused here in J&K, India. And internet is not back yet. But somehow I have internet access, and its a long story(see previous blog).

Lets come to main point. I was working on the cheatsheet and was fixing some landing page bugs when internet stopped working here. After that I somehow managed to finish those changes.

Then a week ago I started working on the documentation page. I finished the working prototype of that a few days ago and right now mentors are reviewing that.

In the meanwhile I am trying to implement the documentation section. Originally I had to use opensource CMS, Strapi which will manage all our content and documentation page was to made separate from rest of the website and has to be generated through API. But since time is less mentors decided to leave that for later. So, right now I am creating that page within the main repo and after that when it is complete, I will start working on Strapi and then separate this documentation section from the main menu.
abhinandan0659@gmail.com (abhinandan0659)Mon, 19 Aug 2019 20:34:53 +0000https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/seventh-blog-gsoc-2019/Weekly check-in #6https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/weekly-check-in-6-5/
Hey!

Well, this was suppose to be my 6th weekly check-in and I had to tell what I did this week, what I am going to do next and where did i stuck.

But this week something else happened. Everyone is happy except for a terrorist group which is planing to launch a huge terrorist attack here in J&K . To prevent this Indian government has paused all the internet and transport services, roads are closed, we were not allowed to leave the University because of this high alert. But... somehow I managed to get out of college and get to this shop nearby which has its own private owned network and its still working. My work for that PR is done. I have to fix a few things on the new cheatsheet too. There are a few features that require popper.js but thing is that popper.js is not working properly with the CDN so I need to download it and use it offline like we use bootstrap in vendors.min.css file. For using popper.js offline I need to edit a lot of stuff including gulp files. That's why I am first going to design a new documentation page for EOS Icons first then later I will fix the popper issue.

Ahh. I think that's it for now.

Peace!
abhinandan0659@gmail.com (abhinandan0659)Sun, 04 Aug 2019 20:04:50 +0000https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/sixth-blog-gsoc-2019/Weekly check-in #5https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/weekly-check-in-5-3/
Hi and welcome again!

Let's get going.

What did you do this week?

Last week I was fixing bugs and errors in the landing page code. I finished with that(almost). I had a really hard time, because I created a lot more errors while fixing a few errors. But Finally, I don't remember how but I fixed those. Well, I still need to do a few more adjustments but its fine. Also, I wrote the code for the cheatsheet and its almost ready.

What's coming next?

After I finish with the Landing page and cheatsheet, I will create a Mockup for the documentation page of EOS and later I may have to implement it too. Those are some later plans.

Did you stuck anywhere?

Yes, yes I was stuck for a long time here, when I was fixing the landing page. Man, I don't know how but some vs-code extension played with my code and created some .map files on its own. And keeps on generating those files automatically every time I use gulp. That was a pain but eventually, I was able to fix that!
abhinandan0659@gmail.com (abhinandan0659)Sun, 28 Jul 2019 22:31:01 +0000https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/weekly-check-in-5-3/Fifth Blog - GSOC 2019https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/fifth-blog-gsoc-2019/
Hey! Welcome.

I hope you are doing well. Oh, you are here to see how am I doing right?

Well, I started implementing cheatsheet(remember what cheatsheet is?If not then see previous blogs!). I planned to first create basic html, css and javascript files. But something else happened.

Remember that landing page I created earlier? It's not working properly since my mentors shifted everything to new SMACSS structure. So, now I decided to stop the implemetation for now. First I will fix the landing page, then insted of first creating basic pages in Html, CSS and javascript. I will directly code in pug, SCSS and will use javascript in it in accordance with the brand new SMACSS structure. This all is not much of a big deal. Cheatsheet doesn't require much time to finish. I just need to fix the landing page first.

So, I am working on it right now. See u later!

Till then, Peace!
abhinandan0659@gmail.com (abhinandan0659)Sun, 21 Jul 2019 16:48:00 +0000https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/fifth-blog-gsoc-2019/Weekly check-in #4https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/weekly-check-in-4-3/
Hello there! Good to see u here.

Now, I'll tell what you are here for!

What did you do this week?

So, I finished the implementation last week and its already merged. This week I completed mockup for the cheatsheet(that's what we are calling that). Its a subpage of main EOS icons landing page which contains all the icons. Its has two subsections itself one is for EOS icons and second one is for extended EOS icons that are made 1-1 from google material icons. Currently mentors are reviewing that mockup and I am modifying the changes accordingly.

What's coming next?

After this is over I'll start the implementation of the cheatsheet. First I will create everything in basic HTML, CSS and bootstrap 4 they I'll have to convert it to pug and SCSS according to our new SMACSS structure that my mentors introduced recently.

Did you stuck anywhere?

Not really but, yes I was stuck a bit when I was testing the converting HTML into pug. But my mentors helped me out of it.

So, ya that's it for now. See you next week!
abhinandan0659@gmail.com (abhinandan0659)Mon, 15 Jul 2019 19:10:10 +0000https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/weekly-check-in-4-3/Fourth Blog - GSOC 2019https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/fourth-blog-gsoc-2019/
Hello and welcome to my fourth blog for gsoc 2019.

So, this week was really challenging for me because I was implementing the Landing page for EOS icons. Yes, its the same page I started implementing more than a week ago, but things have changed since then. Earlier I was trying to create my own CSS but it was getting very lengthy and hard so I removed it all and shifted to bootstrap 4 and also I converted all the html to pug. I also had to change grunt files but my mentors recently thought of not using grunt anymore and shift to gulp. So now we will generate our webpage with gulp. After all this I created the PR and pushed all my changes to it.

This might sound very simple and straight forward but actually it wasn't. I had a really bad time removing all the layout errors, keeping in mind the responsiveness of the webpage. Overall this was a great experience, especially when I finally saw the landing page, I was like questioning myself "Am I the one who wrote the code for all this?really?me? "

Anyways this was fun. So, see u later. Stay tuned!

Peace!
abhinandan0659@gmail.com (abhinandan0659)Thu, 11 Jul 2019 10:27:58 +0000https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/fourth-blog-gsoc-2019/Weekly check-in #3https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/weekly-check-in-3-3/
Hello again!

Welcome to my third weekly check-in blog.

What did you do this week?

So, earlier I started implementation of the EOS icons landing page that I designed before and I am currently doing that. It is taking longer than I expected this to be. I initially understood the CMACSS (Scalable and Modular Architecture for CSS) that my mentors introduced in the new repo on which I am implementing the new Landing page. Then I almost finished the implementation using html, css, bootstrap 4 and created scss in according with the modern CMACSS Structure.

What is coming next?

Mentors have decided that we will no longer use grunt and html. Instead we will be using gulp for grunt and pug in place of html. So, I need to make changes accordingly and then create a PR.

Also when this is finished I will design the Mockup for the cheatsheet (subpage of the landing page) and then later implement it.

Did you stuck anywhere?

Yes, I was stuck when I was implementing the modern CMACSS structure. The reason maybe because of my less experience in this domain and I haven't used CMACSS before. But I think I am over it now an everything is working fine now.

That's it for now. Thank's for reading till the end! Stay tuned.

Peace!
abhinandan0659@gmail.com (abhinandan0659)Wed, 03 Jul 2019 19:09:13 +0000https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/weekly-check-in-3-3/Third Blog - GSOC 2019https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/third-blog-gsoc-2019/
Hello and welcome to my third blog for gsoc 2019.

So, this is my fourth week of working with python sub-org EOS Design system and it's getting real now. Recently I finished my High Definition mockup for the EOS Icons landing page and then I spend a few days resolving feedbacks from mentors. Then I started the main work that is the implementation of the design that I created. First its all about frontend, I need to code the frontend part i.e the way how Landing page will look and then later I will have to work on the subpages and make that landing page alive and then there is some backend work too, I have to use headless CMS(Strapi since its opensource) and deploy it on Heroku. But it's coming later so don't worry about that.

Currently, I am focusing on the implementation of the landing page. Since I have to do everything from scratch and I have never done this before(I mean the web part) that's why it's getting really intense for me. Other than this, we have a meeting(EOS community) every Wednesday and it's really helpful and it pulls me up. Every time I am feeling a little messed up or a bit low I have a talk with my mentors and they really motivate me up. That's why I am having a great time and also learning a lot.

There is so much to talk about and I can go on and on and on but I am ending this blog for now. See you later.

Peace!
abhinandan0659@gmail.com (abhinandan0659)Mon, 24 Jun 2019 15:20:26 +0000https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/third-blog-gsoc-2019/Weekly check-in #2 06/17/19https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/weekly-check-in-2-06-17-19-1/
Hey, there!

Welcome to my second weekly check-in blog.

What did you do this week?

This is supposed to my third week after coding period started. The first week was all about just thinking and thinking because I had to figure out a completely new design for our website and that's why I was not able to do much and hence wasn't solving any issues or helping in other related stuff. But this second week was a bit different, not only I completed two main wireframe design prototypes(one for the EOS Icons landing page and one for the cheatsheet where we will have all the icons) but also after we had our weekly meeting I helped one of my mentors with the EOS game that we are working on. We discussed new levels and features of the game and how we can use p5js for that game.

Till now I am having a great time and I think this whole journey will be lifechanging and also I would learn a lot of things here.

Thanks for reading :)
abhinandan0659@gmail.com (abhinandan0659)Sun, 09 Jun 2019 20:52:56 +0000https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/second-blog-gsoc-2019/Weekly check-in #1 06/03/19https://blogs.python-gsoc.org/en/abhinandan0659s-blog/weekly-check-in-1-06-03-19/
Hello and welcome to my first weekly check-in blog.

What did you do this week?
This was my first week of work after the official coding started. I discussed with my mentors more about what exactly needs to be done, then I started with the webpage. I am working on EOS-icons landing page right now, this is a part of EOS Design system but it needs to be separated in a sense that it needs more attention and that's why it needs its separate landing page from where icons can be accessed.

So, I started my work by creating an initial wireframe for the webpage. Then I shared with my mentors and they have given a lot of feedback on it. Now I need to work on the feedback and improve the design accordingly.

What is coming up next?
First of all, I need to check those issues that mentors mentioned and resolve them.
